Current status: The Railway Ministry has announced preparations to launch the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train in the Telugu states.
Indian Railways launched the Vande Bharat Express in February 2019. Records note the train travels at 160 km/h and that the Integral Coach Factory is located in Chennai. A Sakshi report stated a new-generation train has become available in India following Germany. Reports said a new Vande Bharat Sleeper service would begin from July 17, and that with the introduction of new sleeper trains, Tatanagar station would gain recognition as a major rail hub in eastern India. Most recently, the Railway Ministry announced it is preparing to launch the first Vande Bharat Sleeper train in the Telugu states, said to offer more service facilities to Andhra Pradesh passengers. TV9 Telugu reported the train may begin running by Dasara.
