India's first hydrogen fuel cell-based train will be launched on July 17 from Jind in Haryana, according to reports by Oneindia Telugu and TV9 Telugu. The train will operate on the Jind-Sonipat route under the Northern Railway zone, the reports said. The train is reported to have 10 coaches. According to TV9 Telugu, hydrogen trains have been designed for routes where conventional overhead electric lines cannot be installed due to geographical challenges. Reports noted that countries such as Germany and China, along with India, are working on hydrogen trains. Further details about the launch event have not yet been disclosed.
