ISRO is conducting a series of tests as part of the Gaganyaan mission, which reports describe as India's first human spaceflight programme. On July 5, Prajasakti reported that a test conducted under the Gaganyaan project was successful; further details of that test are awaited. On July 9, ISRO said a test related to the crew module escape system was completed successfully. On the same day, Namasthe Telangana reported that ISRO tested the main parachute system designed for the astronauts' capsule returning from space, and that this test was also successful. ISRO said more trials will be conducted as part of the mission. According to ISRO's statements, these tests relate to astronaut safety systems.
