Security forces launched a joint operation on Saturday night (July 5) in Chanpora village of Shopian district, Jammu and Kashmir, according to Navatelangana. Namasthe Telangana reported that two suspected militants were hiding in an orchard and that security forces traced them using CCTV footage. Sakshi reported that the army conducted a search for the two militants after forces cordoned off the area. In the subsequent encounter between security forces and the militants, two militants were killed, Navatelangana and Prajasakti reported. Reports identified the deceased as Zakir Ahmad Gani and Latif Bhat. V6 Velugu reported on July 6 that security forces had surrounded the area following information about militants hiding in an orchard. Reports said search operations were continuing in the area.
