According to Namaste Telangana and V6 Velugu, security forces cordoned off an orchard in Shopian district, Jammu and Kashmir, on July 5 after receiving information that two suspected militants were hiding there; reports said they were traced through CCTV footage. Navatelangana reported a joint operation in Chanpora village on Saturday night. Reports said two militants, identified as Zakir Ahmad Gani and Latif Bhat, were killed in the encounter. Subsequently, on July 8, Navatelangana and Sakshi reported that security forces killed a Lashkar-e-Taiba militant in the Chanapora forests; a report said the operation was conducted jointly by the SOG, Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF. OneIndia Telugu said he was a key Lashkar member operating from Pakistan, and Eenadu reported he had links to the Pahalgam attack. Reports said search operations continue.
