Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Zakir Ahmad Ghani was killed in an encounter by security forces in an orchard in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir, according to reports by Navatelangana, Eenadu, OneIndia Telugu and AP7AM. OneIndia Telugu reported that two suspects were identified through CCTV cameras in an orchard on July 3. Reports said the deceased was a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander operating from Pakistan. According to the reports, investigation sources said the deceased had links to the Pahalgam terror attack. Security forces have launched a search for another suspected militant named Latif, reports said. Some reports named the deceased as Zakir Ahmad Ghani, while others referred to him as Zakir Ganai.
